The Alphastrut® aluminium raised access flooring and services support system was developed specifically for use on offshore oil and gas platforms, so has the strength and corrosion resistance required for marine applications.
Made from high grade aluminium extrusions anodised to marine grade (which have passed the 2,000-hour salt spray test), it was originally designed as a weight saving solution for living quarters and local equipment room modules. It has been successfully installed on a number of high-profile North Sea projects, delivering significant weight reductions on topside modules.
The clever design of the Alphastrut system simplifies sub-floor cable containment and allows for large cable ladder runs on multiple tiers with maximum cable separation, while HVAC, mechanical, electrical and instrumentation services can be accommodated either sub-floor or in an overhead grid.
The system delivers cost and time saving benefits for shipyards, as the floor and ceiling grids are simply and quickly bolted together, with no requirement for welding or hot cutting.
Alphastrut also manufactures an aluminium handrail system suitable for installation on new builds or to replace corroded steel handrails.
