Alphastrut support system chosen for Martin Linge offshore platform

Published: 1st July 2015

The Alphastrut® aluminium support system has been selected for use on the new Total Martin Linge offshore platform in the Norwegian sector of the North Sea.

Alphastrut, which was originally developed as a weight-saving solution for the offshore oil and gas sector, will be used to create raised access flooring grids covering 1,250 sq/m on the development.

The components for the flooring grids have already been manufactured and dispatched to Korea, where work on the topsides of the platform is being undertaken at the Samsung Heavy Industries yard.

Production at the Martin Linge oil and gas field, previously known as Hild, is due to commence in 2016, with an expected capacity of 80,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day.

The field’s operator is Total E&P Norge AS, with Petoro and Statoil the other partners in the project.
