Alphastrut® has delivered its aluminium raised access flooring system to SMOE’s Singapore yard for use on Det norske’s Ivar Aasen offshore platform and now has a supervisor on site to oversee the installation.
A total of 450m2 of the revolutionary support system was selected for the project due to it being the only system adaptable enough to accommodate three layers of sub-floor cable management each separated by a 300mm gap to aid air conditioning.
Other similar support systems were unable to provide the layered space requirement and although pedestal floors could offer the space, they could not meet the cable management needs.
Alphastrut’s versatility meant it was unique in being able to accommodate both the space and cable management requirements of the project.
The six-figure contract to supply the Alphastrut system includes on-call support and training.
The platform deck of the Ivar Aasen is scheduled for sail away in March 2016, with production at the North Sea field due to commence in the fourth quarter of 2016.
