Over 54 tonnes of weight saved
Significant cost savings
Removal of hot works regarding weld starter brackets
Substantial time savings
The Alphastrut® aluminium raised access floor and cable management system was selected for use on the BP Clair Ridge platform, which was built by Hyundai Heavy Industries in Korea.
The six-storey living quarters (LQ) module and topside modules will feature an Alphastrut overhead support grid, with electrical, mechanical, HVAC and architectural supports all suspended from the ceiling grid system.
Around 1,250 sq/m of Alphastrut’s raised access floor support grid system will also be installed, together with GTF Korea aluminium floor tiles.
Choosing Alphastrut resulted in a 52-tonne weight reduction over conventional stainless steel systems, along with a significant cost saving.
Ease of installation also means significant time savings, in part because there is no requirement for hot works for weld starter brackets.
The Alphastrut engineering team worked with CB&I in London at the design stage of the project, with AMEC being awarded the original engineering and project management contract.
We are now working with GTF Korea as our main partner in the local supply chain that includes HHI and SHI for fabrication of the living quarters and utilities platform.
